Be Part of the Change
At Kawaii Noir, sustainability is at the heart of everything we do.
We are committed to making a positive impact on the environment by using natural materials whenever possible and by minimizing waste. Instead of relying solely on newly manufactured fabric, we breathe new life into old materials, recycling fabrics of all kinds to keep them from ending up in landfills. By doing this, we hope to create something beautiful from something old, giving each material a renewed purpose and a second chance to shine.
Our commitment to sustainability also extends to our 3D printing process. We use PLA filament, a thermoplastic polymer made from renewable resources like cornstarch, tapioca roots, or sugarcane. PLA is biodegradable and compostable, making it a more eco-friendly choice for 3D printing. We save every scrap of unused PLA, with the goal of recycling and reusing it in the future when we have the necessary capabilities.
We strive to source as many of our materials as possible from within Canada, supporting local businesses while reducing our carbon footprint. When recycling fabrics, we take extra care to wash and inspect them to ensure they meet our standards for quality and durability. We also give new life to jewellery, glass, and other materials, transforming them into fresh creations that embody our commitment to sustainability.
Climate change is a very real concern, we believe that every small effort counts. We are dedicated to doing our best to care for the planet and to constantly improve our practices. As we continue to learn and evolve, we aim to be part of the solution, creating products that are not only beautiful but also sustainable and kind to the Earth.
How we recycle our fabrics
Recycling textiles is at the heart of our mission to create sustainable, Eco-friendly fashion that doesn’t compromise on style. We start by sourcing our materials locally, combing through thrift stores, donation centres, and fabric stores to find quality, unique textiles that deserve a second life. By selecting from these sources, we keep usable Textiles out of landfills and contribute to a circular fashion model. Each piece of fabric is chosen not only for its aesthetic but also for its potential to become something truly special, transforming gently used materials into new distinctive, handmade items that add personality to your wardrobe.
Our commitment to sustainability goes beyond just sourcing. We use every bit of fabric we collect, minimizing waste by incorporating leftover scraps into future projects. Small fabric pieces become stuffing for accessories or parts of our smaller designs, ensuring that nothing goes to waste. This approach allows us to create collections that are both Eco-conscious and endlessly creative, with each item carrying a story of its own.
At Kawaii Noir, every stitch is a step towards a more sustainable future, where we celebrate creativity while making thoughtful, resourceful choices.
